Did you recently open a Wealthsimple account but forgot to input a promo code during registration? Don't worry, you haven't missed out on the cash sign-up bonus. Wealthsimple allows you to retroactively add a referral code after creating your account, as long as you meet a few important deadlines.
Follow this quick guide to manually apply the code and claim your bonus cash.
1. Open the WealthSimple App and Tap the Gift Box:
Log into the Wealthsimple app and look for the gift icon at the top right corner of the home screen. Tap the gift icon. If you're doing it on a computer instead, the gift icon might be in the bottom corner.
2. Enter the Promo Code:
You should see a section asking you to enter a referral code. Type in the code BM5_AG and hit submit. You will see a confirmation screen saying something like "Referral code applied!" or "Promo applied!"
3. Open a WealthSimple Chequing Account
WealthSimple Chequing accounts are free and required to get your bonus.
4. Deposit at least $100 within 30 days of signing up
Deposit $100 or more within 30 days of signing up for WealthSimple. The money must come from an external source, like a linked traditional bank account (via Interac e-Transfer or direct deposit) or an institutional transfer from another investment firm. Moving money internally between existing Wealthsimple accounts, or receiving a peer-to-peer cash transfer from a friend, does not count.
⚠️ The 7-Day and 30-Day Deadline: You must apply the WealthSimple referral code BM5_AG within 7 days of first funding your account, and within 30 days of opening your account. If you don't add the code by those deadlines it won't work.
5. Enjoy your $25 Bonus!
WealthSimple will deposit the $25 bonus to your chequing account a few days after your deposit.
If you don't see the option, it means either a code was already applied automatically when you clicked a link, or your account has been open/funded for longer than 7 days. Check your "Referral History" in the gift box tab to see if a referral promo is already active.
